Sixth Hongqiao International Economic Forum held
China Standardization 2023-11-08

The Standards Sub-forum of the Sixth Hongqiao International Economic Forum (HQF) was held in Shanghai on November 6. Tian Shihong, Vice Minister of SAMR and Administrator of SAC, Sheng Qiuping, Vice Minister of Commerce, and Chen Jie, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government addressed the event. Jean-Marie Paugam, Deputy Director-General of WTO, addressed the event via video.

At the forum, Vice President of ISO, Secretary-General of IEC, CEOs of national standardization bodies in the U.S., the U.K. and other countries, academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and representatives from transnational enterprises gave speeches on the theme of “international cooperation on standards for a prosperous global market”.

Representatives from domestic and foreign associations of the electric vehicle industry and experts from enterprises with businesses on finished automobile, parts and charging facilities held a seminar on how standards for electric vehicles facilitate the prosperity and development of global vehicle industry.

Besides, a launch ceremony was held by SAMR (SAC) to release nearly 400 national standards in foreign language version, which will play an active role in driving trade facilitation and international communication and cooperation.

The world needs the coordinated development of standards, and standards facilitate the interconnectivity across the world. China has actively implemented the standardization strategy, vigorously driven the opening up of standardization, striven to promote the cooperation with international standards bodies, deepened standardization cooperation and communication with various countries, and driven the harmonization of Chinese standards and international standards.

China will continue to deepen the international cooperation on standards, and push forward the institutional opening up, global industrial development, trade and investment facilitation, as well as global economic prosperity and recovery with standards cooperation, working with other countries to create a new era of standards and a new future for a beautiful world.

The sub-forum was co-hosted by SAMR (SAC) and Ministry of Commerce, and co-organized by UNIDO ITPO Beijing and Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation. It was attended by more than 200 representatives from market regulation departments of provinces and cities, industrial associations, research institutions as well as domestic and foreign enterprises.
