Dancing on ice: national standard for skating released
China Standardization 2021-11-19

Compiled by the Chinese Skating Association (CSA), the book titled Standard for Skating Skill Level, was officially published by the People’s Education Press on October 31. A launch ceremony was jointly held by CSA, the press and the China School Sport Federation.

In response to the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the book is published to popularize skating among Chinese citizens, and to take a further step to regulate and enhance the level of skating skills.

The book is a part of the initiative of “300 million people participating in winter sports”. Initiated in August 2018, CSA gathered specialists to research on physical agility, basic skating technique and skating skills of respective age groups of children and teenagers.

The book introduces specific level evaluation standards and methods combined with digital technology, which enables readers to have a better learning experience by scanning QR codes in it to watch relevant videos.

The standard is the first national standard for sports technique level developed by single sports association, according to Professor Zhong Bingshu, a member of the National Textbook Committee. It turns out to be an essential book for skating lovers and a reference for skating lessons in elementary and secondary school and relevant training agencies.
