The Conference on Synergetic Development of Standardization and Technological Innovation, together with the inaugural ceremony for the Journal of Standardization and Artificial Intelligence Standardization, was held in Beijing on June 29. Themed “the synergy of standardization and technological innovation leads the development of new quality productive forces,” the conference was co-hosted by the China National Institute of Standardization (CNIS) and the Haidian District People’s Government of Beijing, and supported by the China Standardization Press Co., Ltd. (CSP).

Wei Hong, Director-General of the Department of Standards Innovative Management of SAMR, Tian Wei, Second-level Inspector of the Department of Information and Publicity of SAMR, Sui Xiaofeng, Deputy Head of the Haidian District People’s Government, and Wang Kun, President of CNIS and Director-General of the National Center of Standards Evaluation, SAMR, attended and addressed the conference.

Lu Jun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chief Scientist of the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), and Lian Yubo, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chief Scientist of BYD, and Dean of the Automotive Engineering Research Institute of BYD, delivered keynote speeches.

At present, a new round of global technological revolution and industrial transformation is accelerating, with frontier technologies advancing at an unprecedented pace. The supporting and leading role of standards in scientific and technological innovation is becoming increasingly prominent, and the need for integrated planning and coordinated advancement of standards development and technological innovation is more urgent than ever. In their addresses, relevant officials put forward expectations and requirements for further clarifying the pathways for synergistic development between standardization and technological innovation, as well as for enhancing the quality of domestic academic journals in the field of standardization.

During the conference, CNIS and the Haidian District People’s Government signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The agreement is grounded in Haidian’s industrial development needs, with AI as the driving force. The two parties will collaborate on standardization research, project development, talent cultivation, international standardization cooperation, and brand events, with a focus on modern industrial sectors such as advanced technology and high-end services. Together, they will systematically identify technological innovation achievements that are ready for standardization, and jointly convert cutting-edge technologies and products into standards, and promote their application.

The inaugural issue launch ceremony for the Journal of Standardization and Artificial Intelligence Standardization, which are published by CSP, was held during the event. The official launch of these two journals marks a new breakthrough in China’s academic landscape for standardization. The two journals will systematically advance theoretical innovation, methodological breakthroughs, and practical validation in the field of standardization, striving to build a high-level, international, and authoritative academic exchange platform. They will provide robust academic support and intellectual underpinning for the in-depth implementation of China’s standardization strategy and building national strengths in quality.
